About This Project
In order to provide effective wastewater treatment, the City of Paso Robles CA has begun the process of upgrading its aging wastewater treatment plant. Most of the existing wastewater treatment plant is over 50 years old and its treatment performance is declining. Despite the best efforts of City staff, equipment has degraded and the plant has become expensive to maintain. The City retained the engineering firm Black & Veatch to design the treatment plant upgrade. The City plans to upgrade the WWTP step-by-step to an advanced treatment process by 2015 to meet water quality regulations, and then add a filtration process in approximately 2025 to produce recycled water. During the first phase of this extensive project, biogas produced by the WWTP is converted into valuable and usable energy. 2G Energy Inc. was selected to provide the biogas CHP technology together with a gas treatment plant, as well as all electrical controls and switchgear. The power generation plant also includes a 400kW natural gas emergency standby power generator. The entire biogas CHP plant includes emergency power supply had to be configured as dual fuel system. This is a comprehensive project with technical challenges, and not very many suppliers have the ability to meet those demanding requirements. 2G has a portfolio and many years of in-depth experience with this type of application. The biogas CHP systems consists of 2 x 190 ekW/h 2G patruus 190 including sound attenuated enclosure. An additional 400kW NG module has been installed next to the two BG units.
