    About This Project

Like many landfills around the country that are currently flaring off a valuable fuel that could be used to produce energy, this customer decided to select a 2G 1200 avus LFG CHP to turn his free fuel to energy. After extensively looking at the options of how to integrate the 2G® product into a building design and the cost capital factor involved, the fully containerized option was selected and installed in conjunction to the main operations building. The 2G module was installed flush to the building enabling the operators to walk from the main office directly into the CHP electrical control room as well as the engine room. Selecting the fully containerized solution saved the customer a substantial amount of money, and he was able to reduce the construction time by at least 6 month. This 2G LFG to Energy module is fully equipped will all interconnection switchgear required by the local utility for feeding all 1,200ekW/h into the grid. The amount of electricity produced is sufficient enough to power over 1,000 homes in the surrounding area. Along with all the required switchgear that is supplied as a standard component with every 2G package, the customer also selected a comprehensive gas treatment system supplied by 2G Energy, Inc. for the removal of harmful Siloxanes typically found in LFG. This gas treatment consists of a triple vessel AVK 1000 carbon filter and oversized gas dehumidification system to remove all condensate and moisture in the raw LFG before it enters the combustion and energy conversion process. By applying this very cost effective treatment the O&M cost can be significantly reduced saving the customer/operators a lot of cost down the road, as well as higher uptime due to less wear and tear on the equipment. Because of the modular design, once the CHP module is placed on its foundation it only takes a maximum of three days to perform the installation of all the loose accessories and is thereafter ready to be commissioned. This project site also plans for further expansion as the landfill opening more surface area for the collection and production of additional gas.
