    About This Project

A small dairy farmer in Oshkosh Wisconsin was able to realize the installation of a compact containerized anaerobic digester called EUCOlino® made by BioFerm (Viessmann Group) to produce electricity from the manure of 130 cows. The 2G Energy Inc. CHP is located inside a special sound attenuated 40' container. The 2G filius CHP module with a total electrical output capacity of 64 kW/h or 531 MW per year is also producing up to 90 kW/h thermal power. In addition to the CHP unit, 2G Energy Inc. also supplied a gas treatment system with cooler/dryer and a dehumidification technology. The farmer decided to install the 2G Thermal Heat Distribution System including a Hydronic Junction. It assures that the CHP maintains optimum thermal performance at any time in different load situations. Inside the 2G container module, a 20' compartment is used as the machine room. The second 20' room is utilized for feedstock pumps and the biogas control/PLC equipment. Currently, off-farm feedstock (such as food waste) will be added to the small-scale wet digester. Generated electricity will be enough to power the farm and other Wisconsin homes. Additional manure feedstock is supplied by two nearby farms. After years of proven functionality in Europe, this is the first installation of the EUCOlino technology in North America, specifically designed for dairy herd sizes between 50 and 500 animals. The University of Wisconsin Oshkosh is actively involved as joint venture partner. This will allow UWO to utilize this advanced facility to train future engineers.
