2G Energy Inc. Receives Order for 8 MW CHP Project at Chattanooga-based Erlanger Health System

2G Energy Inc. has secured a large CHP project contract with the order of four Combined Heat and Power units, each 2 MW. The 8 MW project, for the Chattanooga-based Erlanger Health System - seventh largest public health system in the United States – will be a showcase project for sustainabilitly, reliability, independence and cost efficiency.

The 8 MW natural gas system will consist of 4 x 2G Energy avus® 2000 CHP units that will be custom built and containerized in the manufacturing facilities in Saint Augustine, Florida. The system at Erlanger  will be designed to achieve as high as 80% efficiency.

The project developer, White Harvest Energy, will plan and develop the project through to completion. Doug Edgar, vice president of White Harvest Energy, is hopeful the project will not only save energy and expense, but will also showcase the potential of distributed energy to the area.

John Loetscher, Vice President of Facilities, Engineering and Real Estate at Erlanger, has been working on the project since 2015. “We will be able to reduce emissions, create a more reliable energy source for the hospital with on-site generation and also save a great deal of costs on our overall energy bill.” He estimates the savings will be in the neighborhood of  20% compared to current energy costs and, combined with incentives, the project will pay for itself in approximately fouryears or less.

Paul Glenister, President & CEO of 2G Energy Inc., says of the project, “We are very proud that Erlanger have chosen 2G as their partner for this prestigious project. The unique selling points of 2G CHPs are that they are purpose-designed and built to ensure the highest reliability and efficiency. Furthermore, being modular and tested before delivery reduces risk and allows for swift installation and commissioning. I believe this will be very successful and serve as a model for facilities throughout the nation and thank John and Erlanger for their confidence in 2G.”

The installation of the CHP units will be in what was once the hospital’s incinerator. The project is expected to be completed in mid-2018.
